Child and Family Photographer in Surrey
Being a Child and Family Photographer in Surrey, I have tons of experience working with families. If worrying about your child/children misbehaving, or worse embarrassing you, is stopping you from booking a family shoot, read on and find out why you really don’t have to worry I’ve got it covered!
They get to know me before the shoot!
During your pre-shoot consult I get to meet the children and importantly they get to meet me! Every child is different, I have two of my own and I know that they are like chalk and cheese. It’s an opportunity for them to suss me out and to begin to show me who they are. It also means I’m not a complete stranger on the day of the shoot, so we’ll have got most of the showing off or shyness done before the actual day.
We get outdoors where they can run, shout and have fun!
Most of my shoots take place in the great outdoors. It’s an opportunity to burn off energy and enjoy the amazing nature around us. I know lots of beautiful places to go in Hampton Court, Teddington, Kingston, Richmond and throughout Surrey, but if there is somewhere they are familiar with, we can go there! You don’t have to worry about a stressful studio situation and if the kids will knock over the lights or taking them to very unfamiliar surroundings. It’s a win win. They can be who they really are and you don’t get stressed out!
No posing allowed
“Please could you sit there and look at the camera, nice smile?!” will never be words that you’ll hear on a shoot with me. It’s more “who’s up for piggie back rides?” or “hide and seek?” because it’s fun and if someone is having an off moment it is quickly forgotten and we can carry on. It will never disintegrate into one of those wonderful moments that we as mothers all hate.
‘Fun’ is the name of the game
My shoots are full of fun and games to capture their imagination and get everyone relaxed. From searching for pirate treasure, looking for fairies or playing a game of hide and seek. When they are having fun they’ll quickly forget that photographs are being taken and just relax and enjoy themselves.
I’ve got quite a few tricks up my sleeve!
So what happens if they do start to play up? “No I don’t want to go that way!”, “I want to keep playing with this stick and water!”, “Just because…”.
Firstly, we are in no rush I only work with a limited number of families to ensure that we don’t have to rush and get stressed! My shoots are about capturing you all very naturally and having fun. I always have two bags with me on a shoot, one with my camera equipment and one is my bag of tricks. At any point where we need a bit of distraction (bribery…) my bag of tricks comes in very handy! From bubbles and balloons to chocolate coins there really is something to recapture their attention.
So please don’t let worry stop you from capturing priceless family memories that you’ll treasure forever
