So what is the best time of day to have an Autumn family photoshoot in Surrey?

Autumn is probably my favourite time of year for photography. The colours are breath-taking and the light can be spectacular!

Light is one of, if not, the most important element of photography and autumn provides so many opportunities to enjoy beautiful, and dramatic lighting for you family photography session.

If you have ever seen those beautiful glowing images, perhaps with a burst of sun light in the background, they will have been taken during what we photographers called ‘Golden hour’.  It is the hour just after sun rise or just before sunset.  The images that you can create during this time can be exquisite.

 

During autumn the sun is much lower in the sky and sunrise and sunset are at a more acceptable hour, rather than the 4.30/5.00am summer sunrises or late summer evenings.

So if you are longing for gorgeous tones and impressive natural lighting, Autumn is the time of year to book your shoot. Be prepared though to pull on your boots early and head out around 8.00 in the morning if you have little ones :).
