I recently had the most amazing outdoor London Maternity Photoshoot, I love working with creative mums that are looking for something extra special.
When I first started chatting to this Mum and Dad to be, it became really clear they had their heart set on an outdoor maternity shoot that included nature, light and a touch of drama. Honestly I was thrilled with the brief. What’s not to love!
Little one was due mid March so we aimed for around 35 weeks to give us the best chance with the weather. February definitely wasn’t the warmest month but we had everything crossed for some gorgeous winter sunshine.
What to wear for an outdoor London maternity photoshoot?
We discussed styling, colour and I advised on location. Mum had bought two beautiful dresses that complimented the colours of nature and the sunset and that also provided some gorgeous movement. There were many a whattsapp messages exchanged and hair and make up booked with the amazing Ivana Kostova Beauty.
I’ll admit that there was some (a lot!) of weather app watching but it was worth it. The late afternoon sun was beyond gorgeous and even as we arrived a small drop of rain was actually a wonderful thing for the light.
What time is best for a sunset maternity photoshoot?
Sunset was around 5.20pm so we met at 4.00pm to allow us time to get to the locations. Lots of people ask when is the best time to have a sunset shoot and obviously this depends on what time of year it is but there is a special time one hour before sunset called ‘Golden hour’. It’s totally magical light as the sun begins to drop behind the horizon and the light becomes golden and begins to soften.
Why should I have a Maternity photoshoot?
Capturing moments in time is why I do what I do. The ability to make time stand still so that my families can treasure their moments and importantly their memories is beyond priceless.
