Surrey family photographer after lockdown
On March 23rd our lives turned upside down when Boris Johnson announced lockdown measures in the UK to control the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
On that day, the nation started mourning normal life. A normal life where children could go to school safely, Businesses were open and trips for weekly food shopping, even though boring, could be done with relative ease without queuing outside or complex one way systems.
A new normal for Surrey family photographer
As we start to return to a ‘new’ normal, I feel blessed beyond belief that I’ve been able to returned to doing what I love most, being a Surrey Family Photographer.
I honestly wasn’t sure what life after lock down would look like for my business. Having had to ask all my families to rearrange their booked sessions until further notice temporarily closing my business indefinitely on the 23rd March 2020.
As lockdown started to ease and social distanced shoots were becoming the norm, my families started to reschedule their sessions.
Some more cautiously than others. Some simply wanted to get a date in the diary because they’d waited so long, others because holiday plans had gone down the pan so they wanted something to look forward too and some just because they wanted to capture memories in these extraordinary times.
You might be considering booking a family shoot with me, so I thought I’d my experiences post lockdown.
Socially distancing with ease
Dad had bought Mum a family photoshoot voucher for her birthday back at Christmas so they jumped at the opportunity to finally get out and do something different as the lockdown eased.
We went ahead with their planning session socially distanced in their garden. I spent a whole, wonderful hour listening to the girl’s adventures during lockdown, Mum’s and Dad’s experiences (and their relief that the girls were finally back at school!), discussing what to wear, locations and answering any questions they might have. We also importantly discuss all the new rules and procedures I have in place post lockdown to ensure everyone was safe.
The day of the shoot arrive and the weather was perfect.
Being a Surrey outdoor photographer means that staying a minimum in two metres away from each other at all times was easy, ensuring both their family and my family would be safe.
We played, we laughed, we captured some beautiful family memories. The new normal didn’t stop us and I’m so very delighted to say, we all enjoyed the new normal safely!
Covid-19 has forced us all to look at the way we live our lives. It’s made us re-evaluate what’s important. I know being stuck at home within four walls was tough, yep I had home learning with a primary and a secondary age children… But not being able to see family and older relatives was the toughest.
If you have been putting off the family shoot and now want to capture some memories that you can treasure, book a totally free call with me to discuss what you’d love from your family photography.
